Practical Information
As this Congress is fast approaching, we would like to provide you with some practical information concerning your participation. Please read the following points carefully.
VENUE LOCATION

ESSO 42 will be held in Palazzo degli Affari and Palazzo dei Congressi.
The congress and exhibition centre is connected to the motorway through line T1, and to the airport through line T2.

REGISTRATION
The Registration desk is located on the Ground floor of the Palazzo degli Affari.
All registered delegates will receive a separate email with a unique QR code 19th October.
You will be asked to scan this QR code at a dedicated self-checking kiosk when you first arrive at the venue. Scanning the QR code will enable you to pick up your congress badge.

Networking Event
Tickets may be still available at the Registration desk. Yo can purchase your ticket also in the Portal. Do not delay and purchase your ticket as soon as possible.
Location: Mercato Centrale (First floor, Food Market)
Time: Thursday, 26 October, 19:30
Ticket: 100 EUR
Important: It could be quite busy around the Mercato Centrale, please make sure to use entrance nr. 4 from Piazza del Mercato Centrale. Our staff will direct you to the First floor where the ESSO dedicated area will be.
EYSAC Networking Event
Location: Ditta Artigianale & Hario Café Piazza Sant´Amborgio
Time: Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 19:30
Ticket: 40 EUR
The Cafe is located within walking distance, approx. 20 minutes away from the congress venue.
All participants are asked to bring their congress badge to the dinner, as it will serve as a ticket.
PROGRAMME
The most up-to-date version of the final programme is available here online and from the “ESSO 42” Congress App featuring the scientific programme with the names of speakers, titles of presentations, proffered papers’ abstracts, and other useful information.
Information for poster presenters
All posters at ESSO 42 will be displayed electronically, for the whole duration of the congress.
Poster in the spotlight
There will be 2 stations in 2 rooms next to the Room Verde for presentations of “posters in the spotlight” during each coffee break. The stations are located in rooms 202 & 203 next to Room Verde in Villa Vittoria.
Oral presentations
There are 2 ways to upload your presentation:
A) The first and recommended option is to upload your presentation via the congress platform. Please note that an already approved file cannot be uploaded again, therefore reuploads must be done in the Speakers’ Preview Room on-site in Florence.
PRESENTATION UPLOAD
1. Visit https://esso42.gcon.me
2. Log in with your e-mail address in the top right corner “User login.” You will obtain your password by e-mail, and you may continue (please save the password for future use).
3. Click on your name in the top right corner and go to “Personal page.“
4. Select “Upload presentation.“
5. Upload your final presentation.
B) The second option is to hand over your presentation to the personnel in the SPEAKERS’ PREVIEW ROOM with a USB stick, as far in advance as possible but at least TWO HOURS before the start of the entire session where the presentation is to be displayed. The presentation for an early morning session should be handed over the evening before.
The speaker-ready room is located on the lower floor of the Palazzo dei Congressi, next to the Auditorium.
Speakers’ Preview Room will be open at the following times:
- Wednesday, 25 October 8:00 – 18:30
- Thursday, 26 October 7:45 – 19:15
- Friday, 27 October 7:45 – 13:45
Accreditation
The 42nd Congress of the European Society of Surgical Oncology, Florence, Italy 25/10/2023 – 27/10/2023, has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 17.5 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
EXHIBITION
Exhibition booths are located on the lower floor of the Palazzo dei Congressi and will be open at the following times:
- Wednesday, 25 October 09:30 – 19:15
- Thursday, 26 October 09:00 – 18:00
- Friday, 27 October 09:00 – 13:00
Exhibition Build up
- Tuesday, 24 October 08:00 – 18:00 (exhibitor package booths+own booths will be built)
- Tuesday, 24 October 13:00 – 18:00 (own arrangements)
- Wednesday, 25 October 08:00 – 09:30 (own arrangements)
All stands should be completed and ready by 09:30 Wednesday, 25 October 2023.
Dismantling
Friday, 27 October 2023 13:00 – 19:00
OTHER
Certificate of Attendance
All registered delegates present on-site are entitled to receive a Certificate of Attendance. The certificate can be downloaded from the Online Portal after the Congress.
Congress App
The ESSO42 Mobile App is now available for download. The App will bring the Congress to your smartphone or tablet. You will get instant access to the full program and the latest news before, during and after the Congress.

Coffee Breaks
Coffee breaks are provided in the Exhibition Hall during the Congress days.
Lunches are not provided. The venue is provided with a cash bar where you can buy your lunch.
